Grinding out a 43-42 win over Dayton in Wednesday’s quarterfinals, Wisconsin (4-0) takes on No. 3 Kansas (5-0) in the Battle4Atlantis semifinals. The two schools are meeting for the first time since 1969 and for the first time ever on a neutral floor.
“Looking forward to an extremely good Kansas team. That’ll be fun to prepare for,” head coach Greg Gard said.
The Badgers have advanced to the title game in the Bahamas in each of their two previous trips, but they’ll have to go through the defending national champions in order to make it three-straight. Riding a 16-game winning streak going back to last season, KU is currently the all-time winning program in Division 1 with 2,362 victories.
UW does have a strong track record under Gard against elite teams in college basketball. Since Gard inherited the program in 2015-16, the Badgers are a very respectable 10-15 versus Associated Press Top 10 teams.
