Rewinding Alabama’s 65-55 road win over South Alabama

No. 18 Alabama led throughout in its first road game of the year, rolling past South Alabama 65-55 on Tuesday night at the Mitchell Center in Mobile.

Freshman Brandon Miller scored 19 points for the Crimson Tide, which is now 3-0. Isaiah Moore scored a game-high 20 to lead the Jaguars, who fall to 1-2.

Alabama guard Jahvon Quinerly saw his first action of the season, going scoreless in four minutes off the bench in the second half. Quinerly had not played since suffering a knee injury in the Crimson Tide’s season-ending loss in last March’s NCAA tournament.

South Alabama’s Owen White hit a 3-pointer to cut Alabama’s lead to 41-32, but Alabama’s Jaden Bradley answered with one of his own and the Crimson Tide is back up 44-32 with 14:17 left.

• Looking like an excellent crowd tonight, considering the late mid-week tip. Not sure we’ll approach the Mitchell Center record 10,068 that was here for Auburn in 2019, but should get close.

• Should be an interesting battle tonight between a pair of true 7-footers: Alabama’s Charles Bediako and South Alabama’s Kevin Samuel. Bediako was a Freshman All-SEC pick last year, while Samuel was ASUN Defensive Player of the Year at Florida Gulf Coast. will update this post.
