The fallen tennis star Boris Becker might have a good news arriving to him soon. The German tennis player is set to be deported back to Germany and be there in time for Christmas. Becker was sentenced to two and a half years in jail after he was found hiding $2.9 million after getting declared bankrupt in 2017.

Is Boris Becker going back home?

Well, it has come to notice that Becker can go back to his family in Germany in time for Christmas. The six-time Grand Slam champion has spent seven months in Huntercombe prison, Oxon. The scheme allows foreign offenders to go back home in an effort to free up resources in British prisons.

This is for foreign offenders who have committed crimes in the UK. This is good news for the player as he can go back home before the designated time. Apart from that, the offenders who make use of this scheme can cut short 135 days from their jail time.

The scheme allows ‘any foreign national serving a fixed sentence who is liable for removal from the UK to be removed from prison and deported up to 12 months before the earliest release point of their sentence.’ Becker’s spokesperson said, “I’m sure it will mean a lot to him and his family to be reunited for Christmas.”
